How does one become an Olympic swimmer?

Tips on becomming an olympic swimmer.

Getting involved in the local program or summer league program will be good. As they progress up their times get faster, they get a little better, then they might look for a USA swimming team in the area or a YMCA team in the area, which will introduce them to a little bit higher level of competition and the USA swimming program is something that can actually take them from fairly early on in the life cycle of the career all the way to the top. Within each USA swimming team, there are probably anywhere from three to six different hierarchies or levels starting with the young kids and then as they get faster, they would move up to a group that's a little bit higher, that are little bit faster that may be places a few more demands on their time and on their training and then all the way up to the top level of that group, which is where you would have the older most competitive swimmers. So within the USA swimming program they would be able to stay most of the time, right from the beginning all the way to the top.
