Is there pain with massage?

Pain may sometimes be associated with deep tissue massage.

I don't believe so. I think you can get to the sort of good hurt level, which is different from one person to another. But anytime it's causing the kind of pain where either that the person states they are stiff, there is something wrong. squeezing up trying to deal with it, then I think the body is really saying you shouldn't be doing this and I think that's something that a practitioner should respect and listen to what the body saying as much as the person. So the "no pain-no gain" model doesn't really apply to massage therapy. I don't mean in any way that what other people do doesn't work because I have been around long enough to see all kinds of techniques work. But know that we all have our opinions and we work with that.
