To make your stationery one-of-a-kind, you can design your own postage stamps. It's a great way to add a personal touch to wedding invitations, Christmas cards, birth announcements or any other type of personal correspondence.
Step 1
Go to Stamps.com and click on "Photostamps" on the bottom of the page (see Resources). You'll be directed to the Photostamps homepage. On the upper left of the screen, click on "Create Photostamps." If you're a Mac user, skip ahead to Step 5.
Step 2
Click the "Browse" button to search your hard drive for the image you'd like to use. Once you've selected it, click on "Next." A pop-up will appear showing your upload process.
Step 3
Edit the image by zooming, rotating or adding a border, and set the postage value (anywhere from $0.42 to $4.80.) Once you've finished designing your masterpiece, click "Continue."
Step 4
Select the quantity of stamps you want. One sheet of 20 stamps is standard, and it costs $18.99. Ordering more than one sheet gets you a volume discount. Click "Check Out Now," and you can either log in using an existing account or set up a new one.
Step 5
Mac users can get extra artistic by downloading a free application from the Upload screen. The application integrates with iPhoto, allowing Mac users to get the full benefit of iPhoto's digital editing tools in an easy drag-and-drop environment. You're automatically directed to the check-out screen on Stamps.com when you're finished designing your stamp in iPhoto.
Step 6
Visit your local post office if designing stamps on the Web isn't right for you. A software kit is available for about $20 and installs on all PCs running Microsoft Windows.
