Removing a bathroom faucet is an easy project for newbie do-it-yourselfers. Whether you're replacing a leaky faucet that's been around since Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, or need to carefully remove a high-end fixture so you can install that granite sink top you've been saving for, the process is the same. All it takes is fifteen minutes, a basin wrench and a minimal amount of elbow grease.
Step 1
Turn the hot and cold water valves located under the bathroom sink to the "off" position. If there are no valves under the sink, shut off the house's main water supply. Open the faucet to drain excess water out of the pipes.
Step 2
Disconnect the water supply tubes from the faucet, using the basin wrench to loosen the nuts. Drain any water left in the tubes into the bucket.
Step 3
Remove the nuts and washers holding the faucet to the sink. These are located beneath your faucet, on the underside of your sink.
Step 4
Lift the old faucet carefully out of the sink.
Step 5
Clean the sink thoroughly, using a putty knife or scouring pad to remove any residue the old faucet left behind. Be careful not to scratch your sink.
Skill: Moderately Easy

Tip: Spray rusty, corroded nuts with WD-40 and wait a minute or two before attempting to remove them.
Warning: Always open your faucet before disconnecting the water lines, to make sure the shut-off valves are turned all the way off.
