To make different scents, I use a pretty clean fragrance oil. It takes about two ounces of a fragrance to scent soap. When you are working with the essential oils, two ounces can get awfully costly. It's going through this chemical process and because the oil is being combined with the alkali lye, it is going through this chemical process and it eats up a lot of the scent. That's why you have to put quite a bit in it. It's very expensive to use the essential oil. That's why a lot of people have gone to the fragrance oil. With proper research, you can find fragrance oil that's free of all the nasty petroleum products that they warn you about. With fragrance oil, I can put two ounces in for around $6. Essential oil is going to be closer to $20-$40. Essential oils can be very pricy.
My top sellers are cucumber melon and lavender. People love lavender, lemon grass, musk, and midnight rose. I usually have a seasonal scent. In springtime, I have wild flowers. Right now, I am getting ready to do the Christmas scent.
