Do you have any tips for students filling out the FAFSA?

If there are any questions a student or parent might have about the application process, contact the school of choice.

Most importantly, check with the schools you hope to attend to determine their filing deadlines are and if there are additional forms necessary; beyond that, file the FAFSA as soon after January 1, of the year you hope to attend. You will need a copy of your tax returns so file those as soon as possible as well. Some schools will allow you to estimate. Also, remember that it is a free application and it would never cost you to file a FAFSA. It someone offers you a guarantee of aid and want to charge you to file the FAFSA doesn't do it and report them to the school you hope to attend. The school can help you complete the FAFSA if you need help.
