"For oily skin treatment, try to use products containing salicylic acid," says Dr. Susan Weinkle is an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at the University of South Florida. She also serves on the board of directors of the American Academy of Dermatology. "It will help to remove the surface sebum and oil from the skin. There are different types of salicylic acid washes on the market. It can help just to remove that excess oil. You shouldn't need to use any moisturizers. If your skin is already oily, you don't need to apply more oil to it."
According to the website Skin Care Rx. Org, oily skin attracts more dust and dirt than dry skin, but dirt and oil on the surface of the skin do not cause acne. Excessive oil on your skin may exacerbate the clogging of pore openings, so proper washing is often a good way to keep the situation from becoming worse. Use water based, non-comedogenic cosmetics so it won't clog pores. For women, always remove makeup before going to bed, but avoid cold creams and lotions, because these products have a tendency to leave greasy residue on your skin. Also, watch your diet. Eat tons of vegetables and fruit to help maintain a healthy glow to your skin. Drink a lot of water to flush out any toxins that are in your body. If you are feeling uptight or are worrying about things, then relax. There is a connection between stress and acne; studies have shown that the body produces more androgens when a person is under stress.
To treat this type of skin, wash your face daily and nightly to remove excess dirt and oil from the skin. Find a product that works well with your skin and that won't dry you out. It is good to have a small amount of oil on the skin because overtly dry skin will produce more oil than necessary then produce acne. Once you do find the right product, stick with it. It is harmful to the skin to continually to switch products. Use toners and astringents containing alcohol and use non-greasy liquid cleansers.
