What is a western hat?

There are many types of cowboy hats or western hats made from all-weather, water-repellant materials.

Western hats are cowboy hats. There are many versions. We make all-weather hats out of poplin which is a water repellent fabric. I have a 3 ½ to 4 inch white brim straw hat with a long three-finger crease crown. A straw hat is usually off-white or natural in color, which is good for the summertime, because it reflects heat and is lighter weight. How long it lasts depends on the wearer. If you work outside on a ranch, you will work a lot harder than if you're going to church on Sunday. The difference between a fur cowboy hat and a straw one is that a fur hat is more for cooler weather and a straw hat is more for warmer weather. There are also price differences. A straw hat may sell for around $60 or $70 where a fur western hat would sell for $140 up to $5000. It depends on the quality, what's in the hat, and the ornamentation. We can put fancy gold and silver buckles in the western hats.
