Well the beach is one of area that children love because your imagination is the limit. But I would issue a word of caution - the ocean is constantly changing and children should not be left unattended and should be taught not to turn their back on the ocean while playing. Be we have some great glorious days with folks out making sand castles and people flying and there's always the breeze along the beach that keeps us cool. It's great weather for flying kites. I remember as a kid loving to just dig holes in the sand at the surf line and trying to keep the water out of my hole. There are just a million things that kids can do along the beach and adults have fun too. People have a lot picnics on the beach in the evening, you can build a nice little bonfire down there, roast hot dog or marshmallows or whatever you may want to do. The beach is just a very pleasant place for people to be. Even on a busy day our beaches are really un-crowded with lots of room to walk and sit in the sun. And Newport's beaches are very accessible. The state considers the beach to be public property and so unlike some other states you don't find areas fenced off and you can get to the beach from almost any stretch along the Oregon coast.
