Transcendental Meditation is a meditation technique, which allows the thinking active, thinking mind to progressively settle down to its most silent and restful state. The more active levels of thinking are being transcended and this is why it's called Transcendental meditation.
The technique was introduced to the West by Maharashi Mahesh Yogi thirty years ago. He traveled from one country to another, teaching people about it. Now centers have been set up worldwide and teachers have been trained in every country.

What happens during transcendental meditation?
Our minds are usually active, with streams of thought popping every second. What we need is the way to give our mind an inward direction. Once the attention is turned within, the mind will spontaneously start to settle down. The thinking process goes to a quieter and quieter level until a level complete quietness' is achieved. This quietness is called transcending; it is a natural human ability. Once learnt, it's easy to practice.
Transcendental Meditation practitioners testify that they have:
Improved concentration
Increased self-confidence
Increased integration of personality
Increased creativity
Increased intelligence and learning ability
Improved short-term and long-term memory
Increased mind-body coordination
Need another reason to try it?
