It can be difficult to know which skincare products can combat the effects of humid weather. Choose the right products for you.
But how else can we combat humidity?
Another humidity combater is witch hazel. An oldie but a goodie, witch hazel has been a remedy for all sorts of maladies for over a century.Other types of astringents often contain alcohol and other ingredients that can dry out the skin, causing it to work overtime in order to compensate for the loss of moisture.Witch hazel-based astringents are a much kinder solution. They cleanse, soothe, and leave your face feeling refreshingly soft.To get the best results, use witch hazel products only on clean, makeup-free skin.
It's steamier than a sauna outside.Do I still need to use a moisturizer?
Yes.Even if you could cook an egg on the sidewalk, you should continue to moisturize and care for the sensitive skin of the face.Make sure that your moisturizer contains no (or very few) fragrances and dyes, and only the most beneficial types of oils.It also makes sense to use a moisturizer that contains sunscreen. Many women wear foundation that contains sunscreen, but moisturizers that do not.The problem with this is that women generally do not put foundation on every part of the face, leaving several areas exposed to the sun.Another thing to keep in mind is that your moisturizer should work with your makeup.Put on your moisturizer and wait for 20 minutes. If you can still feel it on your skin, or if your face feels greasy, you may need to switch to a lighter product.A good moisturizer should be virtually undetectable to the touch once it has soaked into the skin, allowing you to apply your foundation evenly and without streaks.
What about oil control and shine-free products.Do they really work?
Like everything else, some oil control and shine-free products work better than others. If you have normal to dry skin, you may only want to use these products during humid months, and then a regular foundation during cooler months. If you have oily skin, you can use oil-free foundation year-round.
Test:Put one foundation on one side of your face, and a second foundation on the other side of your face.If after two or more hours one side of your face is shinier than the other, you will be able to tell which product has done its job.
