Behaviors In Cats

Let me tell you about the behavior of your cat, and what it means.

Have you ever watched your cat and wondered why he behaves in the manner that he does, if not, start now. There is such a belief among most that cats have no language, no words, and they cannot think, well that is certainly not true. There is a entire realm of preverbal memory and mental activity that cats share with us and that the way we respond can either repress or enhance their behavior. Lots of studies have been done and also well documented on the following:

Behavior control and manipulation of the owner. Many cats will meow and keep on meowing until they are picked up or given a kitty treat. They realize that they can get their owners to do as they wish with a simple meow, watch the next time your cat meows and tells you he wants something, and also think about your response.

You have heard of cats who learned to potty on the toilet, even to flush after use, some can press doorbells, switch lamps off and on. One cat owner said his cat knew how to put the lever on the electric can opener to let his owner know that he was time to open the can of cat food.

Sometimes your cat will bring you his pipe cleaners to play with or take his paw and push his ball toward you letting you know he wants to play and wants you to play with him, watch the next time he does this, then you'll understand the

meaning of this action, that he wants to play.

Sometimes a cat will be just sitting on the floor and then jump into the air as if to get something in the air, well its an imaginary plaything or playmate, watch and see, this is very true.

Have you noticed when say an older cat is sick a younger cat will come up to it and start purring and bathing the other cat with his tongue, he is showing love and compassion. They are able to tune into the needs of the other cat.

Sometimes one cat will wait around the corner of a chair or a couch to just see the other one walk by and then pounce on him and then want to play, this is a behavior such as a child might act upon.

Have you ever been totally stressed out by work, perhaps an illness or death in the family and then your cat would just mope around or perhaps be tending to you more, licking your hand or your face, he is showing and expressing his love and

concern for you?

When you are sitting back in your easy chair, reading or just watching a little television and your cat is in the room, perhaps pay a little more attention to him and you will see what I have told you in this article, bet you will, now enjoy the love from your cat.
