It is a beautiful art form and it is very difficult.
It has been considered taboo. It still is a little bit, but so unfortunately. In the beginning the women would dance together, even the man together would dance around. If you're going out into the city around the streets, yes, and then it is taboo. There is a kind of a contradiction in a way that dancers are respected. If you are a famous dancer like in Egypt now, there is a lot of respect for you, but then there is an undercurrent of the taboo. There is a little Catch-22 there.
