Bee pollen is believed to be a miraculous way to treat many symptoms associated with various allergies, asthma and hay fever.
The Evidence Brought Forth
Although there is no scientific evidence that has convinced most doctors, many studies have been conducted for allergies being treated with bee pollen. Researchers have spent years studying the benefits bee pollen has for treating the symptoms associated with allergies, asthma and hayfever. In fact, medical reports on the use of bee pollen date back to 1916, but it wasn't until the 1920s that the use of bee pollen treatments became popular. During this time, one doctor actually treated over 150 cases of asthma and hay fever with the use of bee pollen treatments. These treatments proved successful and many believed it to be a miraculous treatment.
In 1991, Dr. Maurice M. Tinterow, M.D, conducted an unpublished study where he tested a bee pollen product on 195 people that suffered from various symptoms associated with allergies, asthma, hay fever, chronic sinus problems and chronic obstructive lung disease. These people were to take a product called "Bee All Free." They were tablets that contained bee pollen, which were supposed to eliminate the symptoms associated with their condition. They were instructed to take as many bee pollen tablets as needed until all their symptoms disappeared. The miraculous results were stunning! Most of the people experienced relief within ten minutes of taking an average of fifteen tablets. The most miraculous effect seen was from a four-year-old girl who drank three tablespoons of the Bee All Free Product's liquid form. She experienced complete relief within ninety-two seconds of taking the liquid. However, one person had to take 120 tablets before noticing any relief and three others experienced no relief whatsoever due to the pollen's possible side effect, nausea. After concluding his study, Dr. Tinterow stated that the bee pollen treatment proved to provide a permanent cure for most of his subjects. He concluded that the symptoms these people once had, never returned and for the few that had future attacks, he treated them with a little more bee pollen and the symptoms disappeared.
How Does Bee Pollen Work?
People that suffer from various allergies, asthma, hay fever and sinus conditions usually experience symptoms such as sneezing, itchy/watery eyes, wheezing and congestion. Bee pollen is believed to work the same as any allergy shot would. The theory researchers believe is that bee pollen may contain protein ingredients, which seem to have the ability to act as a histamine blocker. When the histamine chain that causes such symptoms to arise is broken, the symptoms disappear almost instantaneously. The surprising effect that Dr. Tinterow found amongst using bee pollen treatments was that it appeared to alter the body's immune system deficiency in such a miraculous way that the allergy actually disappeared.
Safety Factors
As with any drug, bee pollen used as treatment against the symptoms associated with various allergies, asthma and sinus conditions can cause serious side effects such as gastrointestinal upset (extreme nausea). The most serious reaction is anaphylactic shock, which is the same potentially fatal reaction that someone may experience when they are allergic to a bee's sting. For this reason, bee pollen treatments are not beneficial for everyone; and you should not experiment with the use of bee pollen substances without consulting with your doctor first because if a small dose causes a reaction, a larger dose could be fatal.
