Expert Hope Cramer, a licensed Reiki practitioner, gives details on the benefits of Reiki therapy. Reiki therapy is a centuries-old form of therapy that connects a practitioner and a patient through universal energies that are used for healing purposes. It presents many benefits and virtually no harmful effects to the patient or practitioner.

Reiki treatments require a great amount of open mindedness and intuition for both the patient and practitioner. Sometimes practitioners combine Reiki with different forms of massage to extend the benefits of treatment. Reiki Master Teachers also use crystal grids and Reiki music to enhance the healing energies.

Reiki doesn't treat an illness, but rather the cause of that illness.

"Reiki heals on all levels, and it doesn't put a Band-Aid over the problem. It actually heals the cause of the problem," explains Hope Cramer. Reiki therapy sessions are enlisted to treat relaxation problems, "stress reduction, for healing people, adults, children with ADD, adults with stress, adults with physical problems, mental problems, or emotional problems," says Cramer.

Other research has listed such benefits as "supporting the body's natural ability to heal itself, change unwanted habits, rebalancing the energy centers in the body and spirit, overcoming mental and emotional obstacles, stress reduction, bringing the body into harmony by releasing physical and emotional blockages, and promoting a state of total relaxation" (www.reikinj.tripod.com).

Still others insist on its natural/holistic healing powers. "When the flow of the 'Life Force Energy' is disrupted, weakened or blocked, emotional or health problems tend to occur (www.reiki-for-holistic-health.com)." Reiki works to re-balance the body's blockages or disruptions and restores the body. The website goes further to list causes of imbalances such as "emotional or physical trauma, injury, negative self-talk, toxicity, nutritional depletion, destructive lifestyle and relationships, neglect of self and lack of love for oneself or others, from emotions that are not expressed in a healthy way..." and more.

Some even claim that Reiki is great for aiding in the relief of headaches, cold symptoms, flu symptoms, strains, sprains and even the side effects of cancer treatments. Reiki practitioners are also known to assist in the shrinking of tumors and in bringing diseases into remission.

If you are suffering from a chronic disease or pain, Reiki is known to decrease the pain and anxiety associated with disease. Reiki also increases the power and effectiveness of therapeutic drugs while bringing mental clarity and focus to the patient.

If you are suffering from the imbalance of an insufficient immune system, you'll benefit from Reiki therapy sessions. Reiki is proven to increase your body's antibodies and promote a healthier immune system.

While Reiki is great therapy for all of these physical illnesses, the greatest benefits lie in the reduction of stress and promotion of relaxation. It also fights depression, insomnia, confidence deficiencies and anxiety. It is best used for positive changes in attitudes and perceptions.

"The only limit that Reiki has is it will not go where it's not wanted," warns Hope Cramer, our Reiki expert. If a patient is close minded and comes to a Reiki session to prove that they cannot be healed, then obviously, Reiki will not work for them.

Cramer also advises, "if there is some reason metaphysically for a person to be ill, that they are supposed to learn certain life lessons, then Reiki will heal, but maybe not in the way they wanted it to heal."
