There are a lot of biking trails in Monterey County. The recreation trail that goes along the coast is great for biking and is currently paved for 18 miles. Soon it will be paved all the way to the next major town, which is Santa Cruz, about 45-50 miles. There are also some wonderful off-road trails at the former military base, which is now run by the Bureau of Land Management. There is a bike map available through our transportation agency and on our website.
Carmel Valley Road is also great for biking because there are hardly any cars on it. All in all, it's a great town for biking. The Pacific Road has a bike lane and it goes along the coastline and the rocky shores which is really nice.
