All About Bless

Bless is a fashion label designed by the duo of Desiree Heiss and Ines Kaag.

With the fashion label, Bless, the design duo of Desiree Heiss and Ines Kaag take an extreme cut against the grain of common fashion and produce a wide array of merchandise that provides individualistic functionality and style.

Desiree Heiss studied at the School of Applied Arts in Vienna where her entrance exam was judged by famous designer Vivienne Westwood.Upon her admittance, she went on in her studies and learned under Helmut Lang, another famous name in the fashion.Ines Kaag, the other half of Bless, went to the School of Art and Design in Hanover and studied haute couture in Nuremberg.During the course of their fashion studies, the two crossed paths in Paris and their design interests immediately gave them a common bond.Soon after their initial meeting, they formed Bless in 1997.With Heiss in Paris and Kaag in Berlin, the fashionable pair of artists oversee the business out of their respected cities.

The company, which is named after their favorite bakery in Berlin, gives a new innovative meaning to the world of couture by distorting the boundaries between high fashion and high art.Heiss and Kaag got their start by making exclusive fur wigs that were scene in 1998 at Martin Margiela's fashion show. The wigs were so intricately crafted to imitate the natural line of hair.Based on the talent showcased in their wigs, their differentiated style began to get noticed.

Bless's designs may come off as oddities, but once they are experienced, they are surprisingly functional and artistically compelling. In addition to past eccentric merchandise like their disposable T-shirt, one of their most notable products is a kit that allows you to construct your own shoes.Containing soles, fabric and an instructional guide, the kit has everything you need to make your own sneakers. The distinctive design of their suit jacket combines the elements of a sweater by having the fabric gather at the waist. As for accessories, Bless's designs are elegantly one of a kind. There is a scarf that has small speakers, a foldable perforated leather bag that can conform to its contents and a vast variety of meticulously crafted offbeat accessories containing contrasting jewels. In addition to clothing and accessories, Bless has produced ingenious collections for the home such as "clothing" for your furniture, which was featured in their Living Room series. The collection allowed you to "dress" your table or couch in a shirt or jacket.Following the line of this design slant was a washable table cloth that had built-in place settings and a bedspread that had an unmade look as well as a photographic image of a couple.

In 2004, Heiss and Kaag's abstractive fashion-forward style has earned them the ANDAM Fashion Foundation prize. They have also received awards and recognition from the Association Française d'Action Artistique, CIDIC, and the Foundation Pierre Bergé Yves Saint Laurent. With stores located in Berlin and Paris, their designs remain very exclusive.

Bless marches to the beat of its own drummer in its designs and its schedule of new products.Unlike many fashion labels, the company only releases three limited-edition collections each year.Without a doubt, the creative designs produced by Heiss and Kaag are extremely avant-garde.They maintain a fashion methodology that is unexpectedly functional in theory, art and in fashion. With that in mind, it is difficult to forecast what's next in Heiss and Kaag's experimental unconventionality. For Bless, it is better to anticipate stylistic pieces that unapologetically blur the lines of retail fashion and conceptual art.
