It's important to make a distinction between body image and self-image. Body image I think is linked to self-esteem particularly in younger people. Because we think it's normal to think that as human beings we are nothing more than our bodies. And there is a lot of society influence about that and pressure put on people to look a particular way, to weigh a certain amount and to have that perfect figure or physique. It definitely is part of young people developing their self-esteem and it's important that kids feel attractive and know that beauty and good looks come in all kinds of packages.
