It's like a breast lift. It's only for much larger breasts like an E or bigger. Anything bigger than a D cup is a breast reduction. D cups and smaller would be a breast lift. It is the same type of the surgery and the same type of incision, because the same tissue and skin has to be reduced. A breast reduction can often be paid for by inch and a breast lift can't.
Insurance companies now are really "pulling on the rains" on paying for any kind of breast reduction and unless patients first go to an orthopedic surgeon or a chiropractor. Also if you're overweight they are going to tell you to lose weight, and you may not have that back or neck pain. That can be true if a patient loses weight and gets within 50 lbs. of her preferred chart weight and goes to see a chiropractor and/or an orthopedic surgeon; that may take care of back and neck pain. So that's why insurance companies are limited anymore. A breast reduction cost is $6,000-$8,000 and a breast lift cost is about the same. So breast reduction is going to be more towards the $8,000 range and a lift is more towards the $6000-$6500 range. It's going to leave the anchor scar and the incision around the areola. It's the exact same surgery; it's just with a lot more tissue and skin than the breast lift. Breast reduction and breast lift are about the same thing.
