We have a lot of breweries. We have more breweries and brew pubs than any other city in the world including Germany. In the Portland Metro area, I think we have 38 craft breweries right now. If you want to sample all the different kinds of beers they are making at the breweries you can order a tasting tray and you will get a little tiny glasses of each of their beers. Some of the pubs like Bridgeport Brewing Company and the Whitmore Brewing Company offer tours at certain times, so you can get a feel for how beer is made and how the brewing process differs from mass-produced beer.
