  • Overview

The Brother 240C All-In-One Printer is a solid performing, reliable printer that can provide countless high quality print jobs, send faxes and make copies without problems. This printer is at home in an office or home business environment and delivers outstanding performance for this price range. One particular feature of this printer that sometimes needs attention is the print cartridges. The Brother 240C has a total of four print cartridges that are electronically controlled from a wiring harness that fits onto all four cartridges. Refilling these cartridges is not that much more complicated than a normal printer cartridge and can be completed in a matter of minutes.
The Brother 240C is an great performing all-in-one printer.
    • Step 1

Power down the printer, turn it around and remove the plastic access panel from the rear. Trace the wiring harness to each of the four ink cartridges and detach it at the base of the wire. Flip up the wire tab holding the ink cartridges into place and then slide each cartridge out separately.
    • Step 2

Use the alcohol swabs to clean off any dried or excess ink from the ink jets and then turn the ink cartridge over. Use the small drill bit supplied in the ink cartridge refill kit to make a small hole in the top of the ink cartridge. This is where you will be putting the ink.

    • Step 3

Fill the syringe with the amount of ink recommended from the chart included in the ink refill kit. Insert the needle into the hole you made in the top of the cartridge and depress the plunger to shoot ink into the ink reservoir. When the reservoir is full (you can tell by watching it through the side of the cartridge), pull the syringe out and wash it our with water. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for the other ink cartridges that need refilling.
    • Step 4

Allow the ink cartridges to sit upright for a few hours before replacing back into the printer. This allows the ink to settle into the reservoir. Replace the ink cartridges back into the appropriate cartridge cradles and then snap the wire holders in place. Reattach the wiring harness and close up the access panel. Turn the printer on and wait to see if the cartridges are recognized. Run "Align and Clean" under Print Properties before printing anything.
