It's important to consult with your orthodontist and to remember that the thing that most kids forget to brush is the gums. That's an extremely important place to get. That's where you find the most areas of decay over time. If your child is in braces, it's the parents' responsibility to monitor brushing and make sure that they are cleaning the area right around the gum line. I know it is hard, but they should be cleaning between their teeth with inter-dental cleaners or with floss that can thread through the braces. It's very important, because if you miss those areas they can form decay.
