Reincarnation is Buddha's belief that we've had many, many lives, and that we will have many more lives, that we create the causes of where we end up. So, Buddha teaches that there are six levels of our reincarnated bodies, until we get to the place of Nirvana, which is off the levels. It's like we've got six levels of a house. So, here's the attic. Here's the upstairs. At each level, we keep reappearing or being reincarnated into without any choice, until we start learning the teachings and putting them into practice in our lives, until we start learning how to become peaceful and carry it with us. Then, we die. We have predominant minds. The predominant part of ourselves is either loving, compassionate, or peaceful. Then, we can move to a higher level, or we can learn to pacify, purify our minds now in this life and move off the six level prison, basically. Buddha calls it Samsara.
So, it is always our choice. So, our reincarnations in the past, we have been many different things. We've done many different things. We still can be many different things in this life, if we want to. All of this is our choice.
