Step 1
Join Bravenet (link provided below). Bravenet offers a free calendar that is not only easy to use, but very functional. The software program offers varying features including colors, fonts, and styles. You must be a member of Bravenet to use the service.
-
Step 2
Log in to your Bravenet account. Click on the "Get Free Tools" link in the bottom right hand corner of the page. Find the "Online Calendar" link and click on it. This brings you to the main page of the service. Click on the "Get Your Online Calendar" link.
-
Step 3
Choose whether you want free calendar service or professional calendar service. The free service offers all the tools you need to build the calendar, but will have advertisements placed where visitors will see them when they view the calendar on your website. The professional calendar service removes ads, so the calendar looks entirely how you want. The professional calendar will cost $6.95 a month to maintain, or you can purchase a year's worth of service for a bit less.
-
Step 4
Begin building the calendar to your specifications. Bravenet gives you options for color schemes, whether you want to let visitors add something to your calendar or not, and allows you to put a link back to your website directly into the calendar. You can change your settings at any time, and never have to change the code that you place on your website to get the calendar there. All updates will automatically take effect.
-
Step 5
Search for additional calendar software programs online before deciding if the Bravenet option is right for you. While Bravenet is one of the easier methods for placing a calendar on your website, there are other programs very similar to it, such as the one offered by Localender. It, too, offers a free version and an upgraded version with more features and no ads. Compare its features (link provided below) to Bravenet to see if it is a good option for you.

Step 6
Download a free trial before buying a software package. Places like Connect Daily (Web Calendar) and Brown Bear Software (iCal and Calcium) include a free trial of a fully functioning calendar program with all the bells and whistles. After the trial period ends, you can either purchase the full program or decline the program.
