Now our pond kits come with what is called the "Biofalls." And it is called that because it has an area in it for the bacteria to grow on. So, the water is pumped to the top of the biofalls and it overflows back into your pond and then on your lower end of your pond is your skimmer with a pump in it that pumps it back up. So the water falls back over the waterfall again. The same water is continuously circulating. You can build the waterfall as large as you want within, if you get it too big then you are going to need to resize the pump to make sure that it is strong enough to get back to circulate that water.
