Burger Recipe: Succulent Swiss Cheese Grilled Burgers

A savory two meat patty recipe with a slab of Swiss cheese in the middle cooked on the grill that will bring the neighbors over the fence

Burger Recipe #314

Take 3 lbs ground beef

1/2 cup finely chopped onion

1 tsp minced garlic

1 tsp olive oil

1/2 tsp pepper

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp basil

1/2 tsp liquid smoke

6 slices of Swiss cheese

Mix all this together and then form into patties. If you make thin patties you can feed 6 people, 12 patties. If you make them thicker you can feed 4 people, 8 patties.

Once you have the patties take a slice of Swiss cheese and put on top of 4 or 6 of the patties and take the other patties and place on top of the cheese. Make sure your cheese slice does not cover the entire patty because you will need to pinch the edges of the patties together to keep the cheese from ooozing out.

Once this is done place them on a hot grill that has been lightly sprayed with cooking spray and make sure it is a medium heat on gas grill or 4 to 5 inches from coals on charcoal grill. Cook for 10 minutes with grill covered and then flip burgers, making sure not to squish them. And then cook for another 8 to 12 minutes or until burger is no longer pink.

To test burgers check one on the outside by cutting into it in the center and gently moving the meat with the knife to see if it is still pink. Generally 18 to 22 minutes on the grill is more than enough time.

Throw them on some buns and adorn with your favorite condiments and enjoy!
