Step 1
Go to eBay.com and sign in. If you are not currently a member, then register and create a new account.
-
Step 2
Go to the search window at the top left of your screen. Type in "scrap gold." A drop-down menu will appear listing several choices. Some of these choices are scrap gold, 14k scrap gold, 18k scrap gold, scrap gold rings and scrap gold lot.
-
Step 3
Choose the type of scrap gold you need.
-
Step 4
Click the Search button. A listing of available items will appear. Most of these listings will have pictures, the current price of the item in question and the number of bids that have been placed upon it.
-
Step 5
Choose a listing. Now you will see a detailed view of the object. Here you can peruse the seller, the seller's rating, the seller's positive feedback, object details, more pictures and have the ability to place a bid on the item.
-
Step 6
Place a bid. If you are interested in the item then you can go to the "Take Action on this Item" section. Here you can place a bid. The current bid is displayed, and below it is a box to enter your maximum bid. If the current bid is $50, then you must bid at least $1 more, so in this case, $51.
-
Step 7
Consider placing a maximum bid. Instead of $51, you could put down $75 as your maximum bid. When others look at the item they will only see the $51 which was the mandatory minimum bid. Now, let's say another interested party places a bid for $52, $1 more than your bid. Because you had placed a maximum bid of $75, you will automatically outbid the new bid of $52 with your bid of $53. This will continue till you reach your maximum bid of $75. If your bid wins the bidding war at $60, then that is all you will pay for the item, not the $75.
-
Step 8
If you win the bid then you must make the shipping and payment arrangements with the seller. Once this is agreed upon, you are on your way to purchasing scrap gold on eBay.
