That's the neat part about sailing; you can learn as a five-year-old and you can continue sailing until you are 85. It is not like golf or tennis where you have to constantly practice. Sailing uses basic geometric angles; once you have them in your mind, and know what you can do with the boat in relationship to the wind, you can do it the rest to your life. You can take 10 years off from sailing and go out to San Francisco and sail. You can take another 10 years off and go out to the Virgin Islands and sail. It does not matter whether it is a 25 foot boat or 125 foot boat, they are all the same. I tell people that when I am teaching the theory course. For 10s and 1000s of years, the basic principles for sailing have remained the same and they are not going to change in 10,000 years. So you learn it once, make sure its second nature, and you've got if forever.
