I have noticed that when people get in touch with their spirituality, they discover that they have more gifts than they know. They discover that they can actually express themselves with visual art in a way that they didn't think possible. Heart Paper Scissors gives people traceable templates to help them get started. If you can't draw and somebody tells you to draw something, that is not a happy moment. I created the art program so that it is accessible to anyone regardless of their artistic level and ability. People who normally would not be able to express themselves through the visual eye can actually do it very effectively and powerfully. You have to build a bridge. The reason I know is because I can't draw. I went to a class once time about healing your inner self. One of the therapists said, "I want everybody to take out paper and crayons and draw your inner sanctuary." I felt exposed. "What? You want my sanctuary; I can't even draw a box. What do you mean?" So being aware of that, I designed my kit providing traceable stencils so that people could trace and cut on the lines. My technique has been used at rehabilitative hospitals with paraplegics and quadriplegics. Sometimes people have a limited use of their arms, so tracing and cutting out is impossible for them, but they can decorate. Anyone can participate if they have a little facilitation.
