By asking specifically the massage therapists where they receive their training. It depends on where the source comes from. No matter what, call up the therapist and check where they received their training. Ask how many hours of training they received and if they are nationally certified. I would always recommend calling and asking for references and asking for their education where they went to school. Some initials to look for after some of these names are going to be CMT and that's for Certified Massage Therapist. Or, they may have the NCTMB which means they are Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Body Work. Or you might see LMT for Licensed Massage Therapist. If you see those initials after the name, it's in a phone book, and you are seeing them with the bunch of other ads describing the very specific types of pain treatment, that's pretty legitimate. So I would say they can always look for some of the big credentials of that individual, too.
