I think public education is really key. Public awareness and education is really, really important. I think a lot of us say "it's up to the victim to reach out and to get the help that they need." I think friends and family members also need to be watching for the people in our lives or sisters or mothers or friends or co-workers. We need to be looking out for them and especially men need to also help in stopping the cycle of abuse. If you are a man and you see a buddy of yours treating his girlfriend or his wife in a derogatory way, or he's just telling you about the things he does to her, it's your role as a man to step up and say to that person that this behavior is not tolerated. It should not be accepted and he needs to change his ways. I think it's our entire role to put an end to this epidemic and to watch out for the people in our lives; our friends or family members or other men.
