How to Cancel a Mervyns Credit Card

    Mervyn's is shutting its doors forever. You may wonder if this means that you still need to pay your Mervyn's credit card bill. Perhaps you want to cancel it while you can. As far as paying your Mervyn's credit card goes, the answer is yes; you still have to pay your card balance in full. A separate company issued all of Mervyn's credit cards, and they are still very much in business. You'll still need to pay your bill on time every month. As far as canceling your Mervyn's credit card, the steps you need to trake to do that are relatively straight forward.
    • Step 1

      Cut your Mervyn's credit card in half. Toss it away. Canceling your Mervyn's card is not necessary because new charges cannot be added to the card. In other words, all cards have been effectively canceled already by the credit card issuer (GE Money Bank).

      Contact GE Money Bank directly if you have any questions regarding canceling your Mervyn's credit card. Have your latest Mervyn's credit card statement in front of you when you contact them so you can instantly provide them with any answers they need.       Call G.E. Money Bank at 1-800-333-1082 if you wish to contact them by telephone, or you can use the phone number on the back of the Mervyn's card you possess. Ask to cancel your card if you don't believe your account is already closed. The customer service representative will answer any questions you have and confirm the cancellation.
    • Step 4

      Contact Mervyn's credit department directly if you are still concerned about canceling your Mervyn's credit card. You will find the Internet address in the Resources section. You will be asked to enter your credit card number. After doing so, click on "Next." Follow the simple instructions.
    • Step 5

      Rest easy. GE Money Bank has already canceled your Mervyn's card. No charges can be added to the card at this point by you or by anyone else.
