Caramel Cake Recipe

Try this tempting caramel cake recipe to spice up your meals!

1 c butter

1/2 c shortening

3 c sugar

6 eggs

1 c milk

3 c sifted flour

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp lemon extract

Cream butter, shortening, and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time. Beat well after each addition. Add flour and milk; stir in vanilla and lemon extract. Pour batter into well-greased 9-inch pan. Bake at 325 degrees 25-30 minutes.

CARAMEL FROSTING:

1/2 pint whipping cream

4 c sugar

Mix 3 c sugar and cream in saucepan. Cook until sugar is melted. Brown 1 c sugar in heavy skillet. Pour browned sugar into cream mixture while still hot. Beat until cool. Spread on cake.
