How to Change an Ink Cartridge on a Dell Aio Printer

    As you were printing that 30-page report, you ran out of ink. Part of you wants to rip the printer off the desk and throw it through the window. Don't listen to that part, he's not your friend. Take a deep breath and calm down--it will only take a few minutes to replace the ink cartridge(s) in a Dell All-in-One (AIO) printer. You'll be finishing up that report in no time.

    • Step 1

      Make sure the Dell AIO printer is on.

    • Step 2

      Lift the top of the printer. Use the support arm to hold it open, if your printer has a support arm. Once the printer is open, the ink cartridge component on the printer should automatically move in to refill position, assuming the printer is not busy.

    • Step 3

      Press the tabs on the ink cartridge holder and open.

    • Step 4

      Pull out the ink cartridge and store in an airtight container or dispose of properly.

    • Step 5

      Pull the stickers and tape off the bottom and back of your new cartridge.

    • Step 6

      Put cartridge in cartridge holder and close the lid.

    • Step 7

      Lift the top of the printer slightly and move support arm out of the way, if you used the support arm. Lower and shut printer securely.

    • Step 8

      Follow any prompts on your specific Dell All-In-One printer to finish cartridge installation.

    • Step 9

      Align your ink cartridges. Directions for this vary by AIO model. Follow the link below, find your printer model number and download user manual for specific alignment instructions.
