First, of course, are the educational spots like monuments, trails, and museums. You can drive or hike 1.6 miles to the top of Scottsbluff National Monument. It's always fun for the kids because there are three tunnels on the way up. Dad can honk his horn to get an echo. We also have the Riverside Zoo which is an amazing zoo for a town the size of Scottsbluff. Scottsbluff and Gering combined have a population of around 20,000-22,000 people, so to have an American Zoo Association accredited zoo is great. It has over 250 species of the animals on 27 acres with probably one of the most valuable primate collections in the United States. It's valuable from a genetic standpoint, because the primates have been inbred. We also have The Wildcat Hills Nature Center with boating, fishing, camping, sandcastle building, and The Great Escape, which is a miniature golf and bumper boats attraction with a little train going around the outside of it.
