Childrens fashions. Cheap ways to spark up any school uniform. Stand out in a crowd.
Children like to stand out, and when it comes to school uniforms, kids are not impressed.
Is your school (or your child's school) considering turning to uniforms, and you're afraid of looking like everyone else? I've got some great suggestions for you, should that terrible event take place. They'll make you stand out, for under $2 each, and should fit into whatever dress code is put in place:
Hair accessories. New designs are really cool and can really draw some attention to your 'do.
Try hair pins
Barrettes and scrunchies are inexpensive. Nowadays you can buy scrunchies with your favorite cartoon characters on them. You can find some from South Park, Winnie the-Pooh and Rugrats on them.
Head bands, too, can help you stand out. Try using bright colors, florals of buy some with cute little insects on them.
Earrings
Guys and girls wear earrings these days, but earrings aren't just a great way to dress up your ears. You can also pin them to your backpack for decoration. It's a good way to use an earring if you've lost one of the pair. Or you can pin one on your shirt or sleeve for a nice little pin, and if a button comes up missing you can use an earring to get you through the day, or until you fix your button.
Backpacks
Decorate your backpack to show your true individuality. You can buy lots of great stuff at craft stores to sew or hot glue onto your backpack. Sew some beads onto your backpack to make words or little flowers. Buy puff paint or patches to spruce it up. A neat idea is to buy a fake butterfly and glue it onto your backpack. See how many of your friends think that it's real, and try to tell you about it.
Key chains have a lot of uses
Attach one to the zipper of your backpack or day-planner for easy grabbing. A discoball key chain adds some sparkle, while a horseshoe might be your way of finding good luck on the next test.
You can get key chains that are like little books, to keep your phone numbers, homework or messages in them. And Wal-Mart carries a yo-yo key chain for $1.97 that'll give you something to do between classes.
Shoes
Canvas shoes, which you can alter or decorate yourself, are a way to stand out. Glue or sew on small beads, or get markers to write on them - or get your friends to write messages to you. It's a simple idea - and no one will have the same shoes as you, uniform or not.
Places to buy neat things
Flea markets. The flea markets of today not only carry used items but new as well. You can find great new hair items or cool knickknacks to accessorize any outfit.
Department/Discount Stores
Stores such as Wal-mart or Kmart are great for picking up cheap accessories and crafty items.
Craft stores. Think creatively when you go into these types of stores and you will never run out of new ideas for revamping your outfits.
