Chocolate Dipped Strawberries Recipe

    Chocolate dipped strawberries are a welcome ending to a romantic meal, and can also be packed up in a gift box or candy bag as a special treat for a loved one or sweetheart. It's easy to make these homemade treats with some basic ingredients. Whether you're serving them for Valentine's Day or for a special celebration, here's how to make your own batch of delicious chocolate-dipped strawberries:
    • Step 1

      Prepare the cookie sheet. Cover the cookie sheet with wax paper and set it aside. The wax should be facing up, and the cookie sheet will need to lie flat on the counter.
    • Step 2

      Prepare the strawberries. Wash the strawberries gently under cool water. Do not remove any of the leaves and stems, but make sure any grit and debris has been washed off completely; dry the strawberries using a paper towel and set them aside.


    • Step 3

      Melt the chocolate. Place each type of chocolate into separate bowls and melt the chocolate on medium heat in the microwave for 30 seconds. Remove it from the heat and stir before heating again for 15-second intervals until it is thoroughly melted.
    • Step 4

      Dip the strawberries. Hold a strawberry at its stem and slowly dip it into your chocolate. Hold it above the chocolate for a few seconds so that the excess can drop back into the bowl, then set it on the parchment paper. You can dip the entire strawberry into the bowl, or do a partial dip.
    • Step 5

      Allow the chocolate to dry. Leave the strawberries on the wax paper for at least 15 minutes. You can dip the strawberries again in a different colored chocolate to create a layered effect.
    • Step 6

      Drizzle with white chocolate before serving. Melt the few tablespoons of white chocolate in a microwaveable bowl and drizzle each strawberry with a spoonful of chocolate. Pour the chocolate back and forth over the strawberries on the parchment paper and let it dry.

    • 1 pint of ripe strawberries, chilled
    • 1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
    • 1/4 cup white chocolate chips
    • 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips
    • 1/4 cup cherry chips
    • 2 to 3 tablespoons white chocolate chips, separated
    • 4 small microwaveable bowls
    • Parchment paper (wax paper)
    • Kitchen paper towels
    • Large cookie sheet
    • Tip: Dip and serve fresh strawberries on the same day to preserve the chocolate flavor and reduce the risk of rotting strawberries
    • Tip: Use parchment paper or grease-proof sheets to hold the strawberries while the chocolate sets.
    • Tip: Freezing the chocolate-dipped strawberries makes for a delicious summer time treat.
    • Tip: Store pre-dipped strawberries in an airtight container.
    • Warning:
    • Monitor the melted chocolate constantly to avoid burning it.
    • When melting the chocolate in a microwave, stir it frequently every 20 seconds to speed up the melting process and reduce the risk of burning.
    • Don't buy overripe strawberries if you are not planning to serve them on the same day.
