Personally, I don't eat that much bread anymore. There are days that go by that I don't have bread, but it's not because I am trying not to. I make it starchy carbohydrates in my whole grain cereal. We really get hardy whole grain cereals. So you do not really need bread that morning and maybe if I am having a sandwich. I will have my whole grain bread or low carbohydrates tortillas even though they say low carbohydrates are really high in fibers. Those are high in proteins and sometimes will make a sandwich on those with some tuna, mustard or something on those. And at night, if I do have carbohydrates, it might be whole grain bread, whole grain crackers or brown rice instead of white rice or whole grain pasta instead of white. But I minimize it instead of basing the dish on getting served two cups of pasta. A serving is half of a cup, that's fine. So, the carbohydrates should be balanced with proteins and vegetables because veggies are the right kind of carbohydrates.

Eating a bowl of spaghetti is not a great idea but compared to eating that bowl of spaghetti Alfredo. I have the spaghetti with marinara right, it's all relative. There is never good food and bad food. It's all relative. We put that marinara on whole wheat spaghetti and instead of two cups of it; you have a cup or half a cup. And you put some protein in there like some soy sausage or soy then may be put some chicken breast in there or shrimp; lean proteins. We have the marinara sauce. Maybe you want to throw some mushrooms in and bump up the veggies or have it with a salad. Great choice. You have carbohydrates, but it's in balance.
