Choosing a credit card has to be a budget thing. You have to figure out the amount of money you have coming in, the amount of money you have going out and what's leftover. Even if you are talking about an 18 column spreadsheet, it all boils down to those three things. If the amount that you have after required living expenses is very small, then you might want a credit card that will give you some time to pay it off. If you have a significantly larger amount of disposable income after expenses you may want to take an American Express. It's always very personal. That's why I highly recommend counseling. There is counseling available all over the country. Every person's finances are different. You have to make your decisions based on your own personal finances.
