Choosing A Plus-Size Workout Wardrobe

A guide to what is best to wear to work out, even at a larger size.

Comfort is the first major issue when deciding to put together a workout wardrobe.The clothing you choose should be breathable and keep you cool.There are many new fabrics out now that help wick the sweat away from your body.This helps reduce some of the chafing that usually comes with clothing that is worn close to your body.

One of the biggest issues plus size folks have to worry about is chafing.Skin rubbing against itself creates friction and leads to tender areas.Most people will notice this around their underarms and thighs.Finding clothing made from a material that will wick the sweat away will help reduce the chafing.

If you are going to a gym, it's important to remember that you are not going to be in a fashion show, but you are going to get sweaty and work out.Everyone else is in there for the same reasons, to get sweaty and work out.Knowing this, the best option for workout wear is a pair of comfortable shorts or pants, a loose fitting shirt, absorbent socks and good quality sneakers.For women, a sports bra or a bra that gives maximum support is also recommended.Sports bras are made to keep the breasts from moving around too much and many new sports bras are also made from the material that pulls sweat away from the body.They are also a bit more flattering than sports bras of yesteryear.

Tee shirts are usually the best for workout wear.They tend to be made of 100% cotton, which is very breathable and a great sweat absorber.They also tend to be loose and well worn which just adds to the comfort of them.Sweatpants are a great way to help work up a sweat and are also usually made from 100% cotton.

The main thing to remember is that if you are not comfortable in what you are wearing, you are less likely going to go work out.If fashion is important to you, then getting something name brand may be the best way to go.If fashion is that last thing on your mind, going to a thrift store and picking up a few extra large tee shirts is going to be the way to go.No matter which way you go, you should definitely make sure that you have a comfortable pair of shoes to go with this new wardrobe.They don't need to match, but they need to be well fitting and able to handle all you have to throw at them.

Actual assembling of this wardrobe can be accomplished in a few places.Catalog shopping is a great way to order a few different things at your leisure, but lacks the ability to test clothing out before purchasing.Box stores (like Target or K-Mart) have large tee shirt and sweat pant selections.They also have workout wear sections.As mentioned before, more and more companies are producing clothing in larger sizes, so there choices are becoming more available.Another way to go is to visit a thrift store, which tends to have very large tee shirt selections.

Remember, comfort is key in putting together a work out wardrobe, not fashion.When trying the clothes on, see if they ride up or stretch in certain places while you are in the dressing room.This will help make the decision on which brand or cut to buy for your new life as a gym member.
