Is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome A Physical Disability?

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is not a mental disorder, for many years it was brushed off as a psychological disorder. Doctors were not sure how it was psychological but experts called it a psychological disorder. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome has many flu like symptoms. It can cause runny nose, sore throats, headaches, coughing, and high fevers. But when diagnosed as the flu or upper respiratory infections the medications prescribed were not helping any of the symptoms. Due to many years of research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, this disease was finally recognized. Because this disease has many flu like symptoms doctors have a hard time diagnosing it properly. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were able to come up with guidelines for doctors too properly diagnose Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

A person who thinks they may have this disease must have chronic fatigue and at least eight other symptoms for at least six months before a doctor will diagnose them with this disease. The doctors must look at each situation intensely and rule out all other symptoms, as they're being no other cause. If diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome there are no real medications currently available. There have been medications tried but according to researchers none have shown any real value.

Doctors will tell you that a nutritional diet plays an important role in eliminating the chronic fatigue and some of the flu like symptoms. Infections are known to set in easily so it is advised to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables to maintain the body's content of much needed vitamin C. This will help the immune system ward off any infections that might make the symptoms worse.



Researchers have taken into account several studies involving fish oils in the diet. By using fish oil in the daily diet some patients have showed improvement after a constant diet of at least six months.

There are several suggestions in coping with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, one seek out a physician that has experience with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and seek out support, in many areas there are many support groups.
