Step 1
Dust the Hunter Douglas blinds at least once per week with a feather duster to maintain the clean appearance of the blinds. You can use other types of dusting products, such as dusting cloths or dusting mitts. You can either wipe between the slats while they are open, or wipe them while they are closed. Just make sure to wipe both sides of the blinds.

Step 2
Vacuum the slats on your Hunter Douglas blinds with the brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner. You can vacuum the blinds instead of dusting them, once per week. Hold the end of each slat in one hand to support it while using the vacuum.

Step 3
Blow the dust off of the blinds with a blow dryer or an air compressor. This method works well instead of dusting if you are planning on dusting the rest of your house and vacuuming the carpets right away. Let the dust settle for at least an hour before you continue cleaning to ensure that all the dust has settled.

Step 4
Spot clean the blinds with a sponge and water, only if there is dirt on them that will not wipe or vacuum away. Use a mild dish detergent for tougher dirt. If you wait too long between dusting, the dirt can build up requiring the use of liquid. Do not use water on stain-finished blinds.

Step 5
Use lemon oil. Place the lemon oil on a damp sponge and wipe the wooden slats clean. You are using the oil as a cleaner, so make sure to wipe all the oil off the blinds.
