There are a lot of them. One of them is that people are oversold on the product. They're told that bamboo is harder than oak and maple and tough as nails; that it's bullet proof and never going to scratch. But the #1 problem is that people are oversold on what it can do. It's a floor and it's tough and it's durable, but that's it. It's not significantly better than any other wood type of product. People's expectations get off kilter because salespeople are overexcited and oversell it.

One of the common problems is solid bamboo being installed over radiant heat. Other problems are from lower quality manufacturers using materials that are not high enough quality and therefore have expansion/contraction problems, and visual imperfections. In some cases the floors are not engineered well. The main problem is inconsistent quality control with some manufacturers.

Another common problem with bamboo would be maintenance. People tend to over maintain wood floors in general, but bamboo as well. We recommend Barnichemy Wood Floor Cleaner and following the directions specifically.
