Typically, we would recommend having your garage door serviced once a year. This will include tightening all the bolts and nuts, balancing the door, fully lubricating the door, testing all the safety features of the operator and the door. Do a check-up just to make sure everything is in proper shape. Typically, what will fail on the garage door are the springs. The springs are usually rated at 10,000 cycles, so depending upon the usage of the door; you may end up replacing springs somewhere between 6 and 9 years. The other main issue is associated with the operator itself. Basically, if you have annual service on your door, you should have it for a number of years without any problems. The springs are generally the first to go.
