There are several ways to add organic material to your soil and composting is definitely the best. For the average beginning gardener, the easiest thing to do would be to buy a good compost. You can create your own compost, but it does take time. So if you've just bought a house and you're ready to get going, you can buy good compost that's already made. The one we sell the most of, and recommend the most, is turkey manure and rice hulls that are mixed together and allowed to compost. One of the things you have to be careful of is if your organic material is too fresh, it can actually burn your plants. So one of the reasons we really like this product in particular is that is has been mixed together and allowed to sit and to compost. So the material is not what's known as "hot," and it won't burn plants when you mix it in with your soil. The reason certain material burns your plants is because the compound may have too much acid and it can actually burn the plant, similar to a chemical burn.
