Acupuncture is probably most famous for the treatment of pain - any type of pain. The majority of the pain I treat is back pain. I do treat headache, neck ache, shoulder ache. I've treated rotator cuff tears, elbow, shoulder, and wrist pain, and leg pain, knee pain and ankle pain. I treat women for menstrual pain, PMS, migraines, arthritis, fibromyalgia - fibromyalgia is a chronic painful muscular skeletal disorder, and as yet no one knows what the exact cause is. To have a diagnosis you must have tenderness in at least 11 of 18 specific anatomical points on the body, which we call trigger points.
I do treat quite a few women for hormone problems. I've treated several women for dysfunctional uterine bleeding - where they bleed and bleed and bleed after their period - their period just keeps going - sometimes for weeks, sometimes for months. In most of those patients that I've treated, they've stopped bleeding within 24 hours.
