How to Connect a Dell Printer to a Gateway Tower

By Marques Williams

  • Overview

A good printer is a system component most computer users can't live without. Dell printers and Gateway computers work together in the customary fashion, and connecting them is a very easy process.
    • Step 1

Make sure the computer and printer are both turned off. Whenever you are attaching a new device to your computer, both should be off.
    • Step 2

Connect the printer and computer with a USB cable. One end of the USB cable attaches to the USB port in the back of the printer, while the other end attaches to the back of the computer. Study the photo to see what the ports and cable look like.

    • Step 3

Turn on your computer and install the printer drivers. Some printer models will provide a drivers CD with the printer. Place the CD into the CD drive. From there, you can follow the easy on-screen instructions to install the drivers in a matter of seconds. If there is no CD, the printer will automatically download any necessary drivers, as long as the computer is connected to the Internet. Or you can download the proper drivers by following the link in Resources.
