Core workout is when you use the muscles in your trunk, your abdominals and your back. If somebody says that they're going to do core workout that means they're going to focus on their stomach muscles and their back muscles. To be technical those muscles need to be fired and they need to stabilize. So instead of lying down on an exercise bench to do arm exercises, like biceps and triceps with weights, you sit on the edge of a chair or you sit on a ball so that you have to really maintain your balance and the whole time your body has to work on keeping the stomach muscles tight and your back muscles tight in order to keep you in an upright position and still lift the weight in the biceps and triceps.
