Recycle Crafts has become a popular crafting hobby over the past few years because of the increase in recycling centres and incentives to separate our rubbish and in the process of this environmental change it gave those of us with imagination the chance to stop and look at what we were throwing out and just what potential it actually had.

Many items are suitable for recycle crafts including milk cartons, egg cartons, cereal packets, drink cans and other food storage containers as well as CDs, newspaper, plastic bags, old birthday cards, old toys, boxes, baskets and heaps more. Base items like those above can still be painted, decorated and revamped into something that is more beautiful that what it was actually intended for creating a unique home décor or gift item. Next time your about to throw something take a moment to stop and look at all it's potential for a crafting project it may make a great storage box or even make some wonderful gifts: all you need is creativity and imagination. I have included some projects below to get you started with making recycled Crafts.

Christmas bag wreath

Plastic shopping bags

White, green or red.

Wire coat hanger

Christmas decorations, holly bows, etc

How to begin

Start by bending your coat hanger into a circle, leaving the hook at the top to hang it with.

Now take your shopping bags and cut into around 30 cm strips of about 2 inch wide.

Now take your plastic strip and tie it into a knot around the wire circle and pull tight, keep doing this until the circle can no longer fit any more plastic strips on ,making sure that all the plastic bags are bunched up tightly, this is a very simple craft but it looks great when completed so stick with it. You will need lots of bags for this around 20 depending on how tight you want your wreath.

When you are finished use some plastic holly, ribbons and bows, or other decorations such as tree ornaments , pine cones or acorns to decorate your xmas wreath.

If you stick with plastic decorations then your xmas wreath is weatherproof for outdoors!

CD Suncatchers

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

1 CD

Variety of beads

A crystal

And some fishing line

HOW TO BEGIN:

Now thread the beads you have chosen to decorate this project with over both ends of the fishing line When you get about half way thread on your crystal or glass bead to give the project a central focus point. Now carry on threading your beads until you get to the top, now secure with a knot and affix a loop for hanging, You can either make a loop out of the line or attach a metal ring to hang it up with.
