They can be. They aren't always. There are a number of efficiencies available to you if you choose a modular home. Because we are buying in larger volumes, typically we buy a material at a lower cost than most site built homes. There are several exceptions. However, if we get the large tract housing developments, modular homes can probably be price wise more competitive than site built homes. There are some markets where there is a surplus of builders. Then, they can price their product very competitively as well. In general, a modular home is going to be 10-15 dollars per square foot less expensive than an on site build home. That is not just a little bit. Think about it. For a 1500 square foot home, you could save $15,000.
